NEFAR - Club News

Welcome to the NEFAR news area.  Check back often for updated information, especially just prior to a launch.  Much of this information has already been distributed to club members.  This is simply an effort to place all the important details that effect club activities in one area.

Great Bunnell Blast on Nov. 13th and 14th

We had a successful  launch two day launch on these days.  Attendance was great and we even had two different vendors there selling engines and rockets. We had several amateur launches, including  Jimmy Yawn's spectacular "I" flight with a lot of sparks and of course Greg Lukach's very impressive flight of his Nile Smoke on a home made "M" wimpy-red motor.

We also had a raffle in which a number of great prizes (and a number of not so great prizes) were given away. Prizes included rockets, engines, rocket parts, and a few questionable things like MREs and test tubes.

Sport launch statistics indicate a total of 120 flights on 131 motors. The statistics are as follows:

September Launch was scrubbed

Due to the field being to soggy to drive (or even walk) on, the launch was scrubbed.

August Sport Launch was scrubbed

Due to anticipated bad weather, the Saturday sport launch was cancelled. The Sunday Amateur launch still took place, but I have not received any reports about it.

Successful Launch on July 10th and 11th

We had a successful  launch two day launch on these days.  I saw at least one successful level 1 cert (mine :)) and one successful level 2 certification. There were several two stage rockets that flew to the 4000-5000 foot range. I would welcome any additional comments or information. We now have statistics for day one of this launch. We had 69 flights on 70 motors.

Successful Launch on May 8th and 9th

We had a great launch on May 8th and 9th. This was the first of our two day launches. May 8th was a sport launch and May9th was an amateur launch. On May 8th there were at least one successful level 1 cert. and one successful level 2 cert. There were probably more, but that is all that I saw.

We did have a problem with hungry power lines eating two different rockets. Did we ever get those down?

I wasn't there on May 9th. If any one would like to report on that launch or send any details or cool things to add about either day, send them to Don Edvalson

Once again our club secretary Tom Grzybala has supplied statistics from this launch. We had 53 flights on 57 motors of the following types.

Lost and Found

Occasionally, rockets, rocket parts, and other items disappear into the sky.  Quite often, these items are found by other flyers or by the staff of the Clegg sod farm.  If you have lost such and item, be sure to ask about it at the next launch.  Any items that have been found, but not yet claimed will be posted below.  Also, if you lost something and you believe it to be on the field, send us an email and we will add it to the list below.  That way other flyers will be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Any items that are found will be stored in the equipment shed at the launch site until they are claimed.  Please inquire during a launch if you think an item belonging to you has been found.
